John Coates, Owner and Trainer

John discovered his passion for dogs during his childhood in Santa Rosa, California when he first observed a professional dog trainer teaching classes. Since that time he has enjoyed numerous fun and educational activities with dogs and their owners. John has trained dogs in all sorts of activities including hunting, personal protection, law enforcement work, scent detection, Schutzhund, obedience (all levels), search & rescue, and service dogs for disabled individuals.  John has also been a vocational instructor for Tacoma Community College instructing classes on dog training and kennel management and served as the Program Coordinator for the Prison Pet Partnership Program at the Washington State Correctional Center for Women.   

Shannon Coates, Assistant Trainer

Shannon has been helping train dogs since childhood.  Shannon graduated from Wichita State University with a BA in Psychology and a BS minor in biology.  Her ambition is to attend Bergin University of Canine Studies to earn a master's degree in Assistance Dog Education and to eventually start a service dog program for adults on the autism spectrum.  Shannon has been a veterinary assistant since 2006 and enjoys teaching and interacting with dogs and their owners.
